| | I have been asked about how this web site was set up, who owns it and how it is changed or added to. Also how the counter at the end works. |
| | My name is Ted Peterson and I am paying the full charge for it. |
| | After you have an internet e-mail address, check and see if your account has some hard drive space, most ISPs will give you some space. |
| | Earthlink give me 50 megs on w7wwg and 10 megs on JPS,. so I have 60 megs of hard drive space for all of my web sites. |
|
|---|
| After you have the internet setup, you contact the ISP and ask what system they use. All ISP are set up differently and you have to change them with different load programs. |
| | All webs are set up using html code. This code will make the web visable on the PC, Mac, Large Main Frame computer, TI, and almost all other computers. |
| | I an using a program called "Hotdog". This program puts in all the <> etc codes in. You use something like TH (You use this at the start of each line of type) with <> before and after, and you will then end the line with /TH. etc. You will learn. |
| | One thing that is hard to get use to is you cannot put in blank spaces in the text. If you hit the space bar 5 times the program will remove 4 of them. |
| | To fix the web so that the person can send a e-mail you enter A HREF=mailto:w7wwg@juno.com with the <> before and after. Anything between <> will not print. Any thing after the. will show up in red until you type /A with the <> before and after. You use this also to put links in but you put " before and after the name. You then can go and keep on typing after the /A. |
| | The web will except jpg, gif, and most other items if within the <>. |
|
| The counters at the end is a free service I have. Every time any one clicks any of my web pages it will send an e-mail to the service and then they will keep the information for my records. |
| | This service will keep the following information on all who read any of my pages: 1. The ISP address of the person, the type of account (gov-edu-com-net-etc) the country they are in, the type of browsers, the type of program they are running (window 95, 3.1. mack, etc) time checking in, total # of checkins by the hour, by the day of the week, and a lot of other items. |
| | I can get a copy of each of the last 100 checkins and total information of all the checkin from day 1 up to date. I can get this printout any time I want it. |
| | Most webs pages have this. If you do not see the information, the web page owner is paying for the service. If you see the ads the service is free. |
| | After you have typed in all the information needed you will save the file. You will then call up a load program (mine is called FTP ) and that program will load the html file to your web. I may have to use different headers because of the different ways the webs are set up. When I had two ISP they wer both set up different. |
