PRINTING PICTURES WITH WORDS

A easy way to enlarge and print pictures with a PC

byTed Peterson
As I am setting up some new computer people with pc they keep asking how do we make, save, enlarge and print pictures. I have went over how to take and save pictures and now I need to show them an easy way to enlarge and print their "bmp" or "jpg" pictures as they are never the right size that they want. Below is the easy way to do this without going into Photoshop and other large programs. They may not have these programs and 2 of my people do not have room on their computer for these programs.
The best way that you can do this easy is to go to your word processing program and load, change the pictures and then print them. I will now tell you how to do this.
Run the Word program in Windows. When the screen comes up find a place on the screen and set your curser on it. This is the place that you want the upper left corner of your picture to be.
At this point go to the top line of your screen showing a listing of items that you can do and click on "insert". When you do this a menu will drop down and one of them is listed as "pictures". Click on this and new menu will show listing a group of items. Click on "from file". Then it will ask for the file from your hard drive, disk, etc. Click on the picture needed and your picture will then be on your Word screen.
You now will have the picture that if the size is OK you can print, but if it is not I will now tell you how to change it and make it larger or smaller.
Click on the picture and you will see 3 open dots on the top, one each side and 3 open dots on the lower end of the picture. Also you will see a small menu come up on the top right side of the screen. Do not worry about this as you will not use it.
What you do now is go to the listing of things at the top again and you see "format". Click on this and a new drop down menu will have a listing of things that you can now do. Click on "picture". A new drop down menu will have a group of items that can be done. Click on "size". This screen will have a group of items entered. One will have a number in "height" an one will have a number in "width". There will be numbers in "scale" that you will leave alone. There will also be 2 squares checked. The top one you will leave alone but if the lower one is checked click on it so that it is blank.
At this time you will set the size that you want. Change either size (you only need to do one) to the size that you would like this (height or width) to be. Do it in inch (") or point (pt).. As most of the people will know what inch is, do it in inches by printing " after the size. Because you unclicked the Relative square when you click OK on the menu the program will change the other side.
When you click OK on the size menu the picture on your Word screen will be the new size and if it is OK you can then print it.
You can use the Works menu also but will have to use same different menu and I have not done it with Works. Works does not have the above menu's.
I hope that this cleared up how to print pictures with your computer. Good Luck
